The 3M 7010329627 Scotch-Brite Surface Conditioning Belt is a nonwoven abrasive belt built for precision surface work on metal. Constructed with an aluminum oxide mineral bonded in resin on a scrim-reinforced open web backing, it measures 30 inches in length and 2 inches in width. The open web construction limits heat buildup and reduces loading, allowing the belt to maintain consistent cutting action over extended use. Metal fabricators, maintenance technicians, and production grinding operators use this belt for tasks that demand repeatable, controlled surface results without aggressive stock removal.
This belt is suited for detail finishing applications on ferrous and non-ferrous metals including stainless steel, mild steel, and aluminum. Typical use cases include blending weld seams, cleaning mill scale, deburring cut edges, setting a brushed grain, attaining straight-line finishes, and contour finishing on irregular profiles. The conformable nonwoven structure allows the abrasive to follow curved and complex-shaped workpieces, making it well suited for both manual bench operations and robotic or automated processing lines.
Designed for use on standard 2-inch wide belt finishing machines and backstand grinders that accept 30-inch by 2-inch surface conditioning belts.
Installation should be performed by a qualified operator following the equipment manufacturer's belt-change procedure. Power down and de-energize the belt grinder or finishing machine before changing the belt. Verify belt tracking and tension before resuming operation. Inspect the belt for tears or fraying prior to each use and do not exceed the machine's rated operating speed.
