The 3M 7010329201 Scotch-Brite Surface Conditioning Belt is a nonwoven abrasive belt designed for demanding surface preparation and finishing work on metal components. Constructed with an aluminum oxide mineral bonded into an open nonwoven web on a reinforced scrim backing, this belt handles a wide range of tasks including blending, deburring, fine finishing, grain setting, and attaining straightline-brushed finishes. At 168 inches long and 4 inches wide, it fits wide-belt and automated machine configurations. Licensed metalworking professionals and fabricators install and operate this belt in production and job-shop environments.
This belt is suited for detail finishing on flat and contoured metal surfaces in both manual and robotic processing applications. The open nonwoven construction resists loading and reduces heat buildup, making it effective for extended runs on stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, and other metals. Typical use cases include removing grind lines, mill marks, and surface imperfections, as well as blending corners and contour finishing on complex-shaped parts in fabrication shops and OEM production lines.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or production consumable for wide-belt surface conditioning machines accepting a 168-inch by 4-inch nonwoven abrasive belt.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machine operator or maintenance technician following the belt grinder or wide-belt machine manufacturer's instructions. Power down and lock out the machine before mounting or removing the belt. Verify belt tracking and tension per equipment specifications before resuming operation. Inspect the belt for tears or separation before each use and do not operate a damaged belt.
