The 3M 7010328932 is a Scotch-Brite LC-DH Light Coating Removal Disc built on a non-woven, open-web construction with aluminum oxide abrasive mineral. Rated to 12000 RPM, this 4.5-inch disc is designed to strip light coatings — paint, rust, sealant, and varnish — from ferrous and non-ferrous metal substrates without gouging or damaging the underlying surface. The open-web structure resists loading from dust and debris, keeping the mineral cutting sharp across multiple passes and extending disc life. A hook and loop backing mounts directly to compatible 3M hook and loop backup pads, sold separately.
This disc is suited for light-duty coating removal tasks on metal fabrication, maintenance, and surface preparation work. It performs well on both ferrous and non-ferrous metals where a finer, more conformable abrasive action is needed. Compared to heavier stripping discs such as the 3M Clean and Strip line, this disc delivers a lighter cut and finer finish, making it appropriate for thinner coatings where substrate integrity must be preserved. It is commonly used by metalworkers, maintenance technicians, and fabricators handling part-by-part surface prep workflows.
Designed for use with 3M hook and loop backup pads sold separately. Compatible with angle grinders and disc tools that accept 4.5-inch hook and loop abrasive discs rated to 12000 RPM.
Verify the backup pad and tool spindle are rated at or above 12000 RPM before mounting the disc. Power down and unplug or de-energize the tool before attaching or removing the disc. Inspect the disc for tears or damage before each use and discard any disc that shows signs of deterioration. Follow applicable shop safety protocols including eye protection and respiratory controls when performing coating removal work.
