The 3M 7010328751 Scotch-Brite EXL Unitized Wheel is a surface conditioning abrasive wheel designed for smoothing, deburring, and finishing metal alloys, plastics, and composites. Built with a layered, unitized construction, the wheel maintains a soft, conformable consistency that keeps the abrasive in continuous contact with the workpiece surface. At 8 inches in diameter with a 1/2 inch arbor bore, it mounts to standard bench grinders, angle grinders, and pedestal machines. The aluminum oxide (AO) abrasive mineral provides consistent cut while resisting smearing and minimizing heat buildup, making it well-suited for use on heat-sensitive materials.
This wheel is used in metal fabrication, maintenance, and finishing operations across manufacturing, welding, and industrial service environments. Its conformable construction supports use on complex contours and is compatible with robotic processing applications. The unitized design allows operation in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions, offering flexibility across different machine setups. Typical applications include edge deburring after cutting or stamping, pre-plate finishing, and light surface blending on ferrous and non-ferrous metals as well as many plastics and composites.
Designed for use on standard bench grinders, pedestal grinders, and angle grinder setups accepting a 1/2 inch arbor and accommodating an 8 inch diameter wheel.
Installation should be performed by a qualified operator familiar with abrasive wheel safety requirements per ANSI B11 and applicable shop safety standards. Always power down and lock out the machine before mounting or removing the wheel. Confirm that the machine spindle speed does not exceed the maximum rated RPM marked on the wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or damage before mounting and run it at operating speed for at least one minute in a guarded area before bringing it into contact with the workpiece.
