The 3M 7010328594 is a coated abrasive belt designed for demanding stock removal and metal finishing applications. It uses a blend of ceramic abrasive grain and aluminum oxide to cut faster and last longer than standard aluminum oxide belts. The heavyweight polyester cloth backing handles high-pressure contact wheel and platen applications without breaking down. A built-in grinding aid reduces heat buildup, making this belt well suited for stainless steel and other heat-sensitive metals. The belt runs dry or with lubricant and measures 310 inches long by 6 inches wide with an 80-grit cut rate.
This belt is used in fabrication shops, weld grinding operations, and metal finishing lines where throughput and belt life are critical. It is appropriate for both ferrous and non-ferrous metals and performs in applications where heat generation must be controlled. The 80-grit grade positions it for aggressive material removal while leaving a surface suitable for subsequent finishing steps. It is typically installed and operated by machinists, metal fabricators, and industrial maintenance technicians on wide belt sanders, stroke sanders, and contact-wheel grinders.
Designed for use on wide belt sanders, stroke sanders, and contact-wheel grinders that accept a 310-inch by 6-inch abrasive belt. Verify machine belt path length and contact wheel or platen width before installation.
De-energize and lock out the grinder or sander before changing the belt. Confirm belt tracking direction by checking the arrow printed on the belt backing before seating it on the machine. Inspect the contact wheel and platen for wear or damage that could cause uneven belt loading. Allow the belt to run at operating speed briefly without workpiece contact to confirm proper tracking before applying pressure.
