The 3M 7010328202 is a Trizact 217EA coated abrasive belt designed for intermediate finishing and fine polishing applications. It uses 3M microreplication technology in which micron-graded aluminum oxide particles are formed into precise pyramidal structures bonded to a JE-weight rayon cloth backing. As the pyramid tips wear during use, fresh, sharp mineral is continuously exposed. This self-renewing cut mechanism delivers a consistent finish rate and predictable surface finish quality throughout the belt's service life. The belt measures 118 inches in length and 4 inches in width. It is commonly installed on wide belt finishing machines and robotic grinding cells used by metalworking fabricators and finishing shops.
This belt is suited for intermediate stock removal and fine polishing steps prior to plating, buffing, or coating operations. The flexible JE-weight rayon backing conforms to contoured and flat workpiece surfaces, making it effective on complex geometry parts. The grinding aid integrated into the abrasive structure helps dissipate heat during cutting, reducing the risk of heat-related workpiece warping or discoloration. It performs well under light to moderate pressure conditions and is particularly well matched to automated and robotic finishing lines where consistency across large production runs is required.
Designed as a replacement-style abrasive belt for wide belt finishing machines and robotic grinding systems that accept 118-inch by 4-inch belts used in metalworking, fabrication, and pre-plate polishing operations.
Abrasive belts of this type are installed and tensioned by experienced metalworking technicians or equipment operators following the machine manufacturer's belt-change procedure. Power down and de-energize the finishing machine completely before changing belts. Inspect the contact drum, platens, and tracking guides for wear before installing a new belt. Verify belt tracking and tension before returning the machine to production.
