The 3M 7010327790 is a coated abrasive cloth belt designed for high-pressure grinding and finishing applications on metal. Built on a heavyweight polyester backing, the belt uses 3M Precision Shaped Grain technology, which produces consistent, sharp cutting edges that fracture predictably under load. The result is faster stock removal and extended belt life compared to conventional abrasive belts. At 132 inches long and 4 inches wide with a 60-grit abrasive, this belt is suited to aggressive material removal on flat and contoured workpieces in fabrication and tool shop environments. A heat-resistant grinding aid is incorporated into the construction to manage thermal buildup during extended cuts.
This belt is used in industrial metal fabrication, weld grinding, and surface conditioning operations where carbon steel, tool steels, nickel alloys, and titanium are common workpiece materials. The heavyweight backing handles the lateral and axial stress of high-contact-pressure applications such as off-hand grinding, wide-platen grinding, and coarse-stock-removal passes. The 60-grit rating makes it appropriate for rough grinding and initial material removal rather than fine finishing. Fabricators, tool and die shops, aerospace component manufacturers, and maintenance machinists are the primary users of this belt type.
Designed for use on compatible belt grinders and wide-platen grinding machines that accept a 132-inch by 4-inch abrasive belt. Suitable for use on carbon steel, tool steels, nickel alloys, and titanium workpieces.
Belt installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified operator following the grinder manufacturer's mounting instructions. Ensure the machine is fully de-energized and locked out before changing belts. Verify belt tracking and tension before resuming operation. Always use appropriate PPE, including eye protection and gloves, when handling and installing coated abrasive belts.
