The 3M 7010327789 is a coated abrasive cloth belt designed for high-pressure grinding applications on carbon steel, nickel alloys, tool steels, and titanium. It features 3M Precision Shaped Grain on a heavyweight polyester backing, which fractures along consistent lines to maintain sharp cutting edges throughout the belt's service life. At 36 grit, this is a coarse-material-removal belt suited for rough grinding, weld blending, and stock removal tasks where cut rate and belt longevity are the primary concerns. At 132 inches long and 4 inches wide, it fits wide-contact and stroke-sander configurations common in fabrication and toolroom environments.
This belt is intended for use in industrial and fabrication shop settings where operators work with ferrous and non-ferrous alloys under sustained pressure. The heat-resistant grinding aid built into the bond system makes it appropriate for titanium and other heat-sensitive high-nickel alloys where thermal damage to the workpiece is a real concern. Dry off-hand grinding applications are a typical use case. The heavyweight backing sustains integrity under the load levels that coarse-grit work demands, reducing belt failures mid-operation and the downtime that comes with them.
Designed for use on wide-contact belt grinders, stroke sanders, and off-hand grinding machines that accept 132-inch by 4-inch abrasive cloth belts. Suitable for carbon steel, tool steels, nickel alloys, and titanium workpieces.
Belt installation and tensioning should be performed by qualified personnel following the machine manufacturer's guidelines. Disconnect and lock out all power to the belt grinder before changing belts. Confirm belt tracking and tension before resuming operation, and ensure guards are fully reinstated prior to use. Abrasive belt work on nickel alloys and titanium may require local exhaust ventilation in compliance with applicable shop safety and OSHA standards.
