The 3M 7010327788 is a coated abrasive belt designed for high-pressure grinding and finishing applications on carbon steel, nickel alloys, tool steels, and titanium. Built on a heavyweight polyester backing, it uses 3M Precision Shaped Grain technology to deliver fast, consistent stock removal with extended belt life. At 132 inches long and 1 inch wide with a 36-grit cut, this belt is suited for aggressive material removal where heat buildup and belt wear are common concerns. It is installed and used by metal fabricators, tool and die shops, and industrial grinding operations.
This belt is intended for dry off-hand grinding and high-contact-pressure belt grinding applications. The 36-grit designation makes it appropriate for rough stock removal rather than finishing passes. It performs on carbon steel, tool steels, and heat-sensitive high-nickel alloys where conventional abrasives degrade quickly. A heat-resistant grinding aid integrated into the abrasive layer helps manage thermal load during titanium and nickel alloy grinding, reducing workpiece damage and extending usable belt life.
Designed for use on belt grinding machines accepting a 132-inch by 1-inch abrasive belt in industrial and fabrication shop environments working carbon steel, tool steels, nickel alloys, and titanium.
Belt installation should be performed by qualified personnel with the grinder powered off and locked out per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Verify belt tracking and tension according to the grinding machine manufacturer specifications before resuming operation. Inspect the belt for tears, edge damage, or splice separation prior to each use. Do not exceed the maximum operating speed marked on the machine or the belt.
