The 3M 7010327724 is a coated abrasive cloth belt designed for high-pressure grinding and finishing applications on ferrous and specialty metals. Built on a heavyweight polyester backing, this belt uses 3M Precision Shaped Grain technology, which fractures along engineered angles to continually expose sharp cutting edges. The result is consistent stock removal with reduced heat buildup. Grit size is 80, placing it in the aggressive stock-removal range. Primary applications include carbon steel, tool steels, nickel alloys, and titanium. This belt is a standard tool for metal fabricators, weld grinding, and off-hand deburring operations in industrial and job-shop environments.
This belt is suited for dry off-hand grinding, backstand grinder use, and contact-wheel applications where consistent cut rate and belt life are priorities. The heat-resistant grinding aid built into the coating allows use on titanium and heat-sensitive high-nickel alloys without premature glazing or loading. Heavyweight backing on this coarse grade resists tearing and deformation under the high contact pressures typical of weld blending and rough shaping on structural steel components. Metal fabricators and industrial maintenance technicians are the primary installers and users of this product.
Designed for use on backstand grinders and contact-wheel machines accepting 24 inch by 3 inch abrasive belts. Intended for use on carbon steel, tool steels, nickel alloys, and titanium workpieces.
Installation and tensioning of abrasive belts should be performed by qualified personnel following the grinder manufacturer's guidelines. Ensure the machine is fully de-energized and locked out before mounting or removing a belt. Verify belt tracking and tension before resuming grinding operations. Always use appropriate PPE including face shield and gloves when operating belt grinding equipment.
