The 3M 7010327515 is a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) cloth sanding disc designed for heavy-duty material removal on a wide range of surfaces. The disc features an aluminum oxide abrasive that cuts aggressively and holds up through extended use. A resin bond system protects the abrasive layer from heat buildup, extending disc life in demanding grinding and finishing operations. The PSA backing adheres firmly to compatible backup pads or steel platens and releases cleanly for fast changeovers, reducing downtime during production runs. Suitable for both wet and dry applications, this disc handles a variety of shop and field sanding tasks.
This disc is used in metalworking, woodworking, and general fabrication environments where consistent stock removal and surface finishing are required. The 3-inch diameter and P180 grit make it well suited for fine material removal, deburring, and surface preparation prior to coating or finishing. The X-weight cloth backing resists tearing and edge wear under aggressive pressure, making it a practical choice for production grinding on flat or contoured workpieces. Licensed trades and fabrication shops typically use these discs on angle grinders, random orbital sanders, or lathe-mounted platens.
Designed for use with 3-inch PSA backup pads and steel platens compatible with standard PSA-style disc systems. Verify backup pad diameter and PSA compatibility before installation.
Installation is performed by pressing the PSA face firmly onto a clean, dry backup pad or steel platen, ensuring full surface contact to prevent disc slippage during operation. Power down and disconnect the tool from its power source before mounting or removing any abrasive disc. Inspect the backup pad for wear or damage prior to attaching a new disc, as a damaged pad can cause uneven contact and premature disc failure. Follow the tool and abrasive manufacturer guidelines for maximum RPM ratings and do not exceed the disc speed rating.
