The 3M 7010327331 is a coated abrasive flap disc engineered for high-pressure metalworking tasks including weld removal, beveling, and sharp-edge finishing. It uses alumina zirconia mineral bonded to heavyweight polyester-backed flaps, delivering faster cut rates than standard aluminum oxide across carbon steel, stainless, and other metal types. At a 4.5-inch diameter with a 36-grit cut rating and a maximum operating speed of 13300 RPM, this disc is built for aggressive stock removal while leaving a blended surface finish in a single pass. It is installed and used by metal fabricators, welders, and ironworkers in production and field environments.
This disc is suited for use on angle grinders in both shop and field settings where heavy-duty grinding and finishing must be completed efficiently. The Type 29 conical profile increases contact area on flat and contoured workpieces, making it a practical choice for weld seam blending, edge preparation, and surface cleanup on structural and sheet metal applications. The 36-grit designation positions it firmly in the aggressive-removal range, appropriate for initial passes on welds or heavy mill scale before finer finishing steps.
Designed as a direct-fit abrasive disc for 4.5-inch angle grinders rated to at least 13300 RPM with a standard arbor configuration.
Install and remove this disc only with the grinder unplugged or the power source locked out. Verify the grinder's rated RPM meets or exceeds the disc's 13300 RPM maximum before mounting. Always use the appropriate guard and personal protective equipment including face shield and gloves. Inspect the disc for visible damage before each use and do not use a disc that shows torn flaps, delamination, or backing damage.
