The 3M 7010327315 is a 302D series aluminum oxide cloth sanding belt built for metalworking on backstand grinders, file belt tools, and benchtop motors. Measuring 118 inches long by 3 inches wide with an 80-grit aluminum oxide abrasive, it features an open-coat construction on a flexible J-weight cloth backing. The open coat design clears swarf and sanding dust from the belt surface, reducing loading and extending abrasive life. Resin bonding locks the abrasive grain firmly in place. Intended for dry metalworking applications installed and operated by metal fabricators and finishing technicians.
This belt is suited for light grinding, finishing, deburring, and grain setting on carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, bronze, and copper. The flexible J-weight cloth backing conforms to contoured and complex part geometries, making it effective for blending and finishing irregular surfaces. Open-coat construction promotes a more aggressive cut compared to closed-coat belts of the same grit, particularly when working with soft metals that tend to load abrasives quickly. Sold individually per unit.
Designed for use on backstand grinders, file belt tools, and benchtop motors requiring a 118-inch by 3-inch abrasive belt.
Belt installation should be performed by qualified metalworking personnel with the grinder or motor fully powered down and locked out before changing the belt. Verify the belt tracking direction arrow aligns with the machine's drive direction before operating. Inspect the contact wheel or platen for wear or damage that could cause uneven belt loading or premature failure. Follow applicable shop safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when operating abrasive belt equipment.
