The 3M 7010326432 is a Cubitron II 982C coated fibre disc engineered for aggressive material removal on carbon steel and similar metals. It uses 3M Precision-Shaped Grain, a triangular ceramic abrasive that maintains sharp cutting points throughout the disc's life, delivering up to twice the cut rate and disc life compared to conventional ceramic fibre discs. At 5 inches in diameter with a 60 grit rating and a maximum operating speed of 12000 RPM, this disc is built for medium to high-pressure grinding applications where speed and durability matter. Licensed fabricators, welders, and metalworkers rely on it to reduce disc changes and operator fatigue on demanding jobs.
This disc is suited for manual, robotic, and pressure-assisted grinding setups in fabrication shops, structural steel work, and manufacturing environments. Primary applications include weld grinding, weld beveling, and surface stock removal on carbon steel. The stiff fibre backing and strong resin bond hold up under heavy contact pressure, making it a practical choice where throughput and part count per disc are operational priorities. Its cool-running ceramic grain structure helps reduce heat buildup during extended passes.
Designed for use with standard 5 inch angle grinders and disc grinders accepting Type 27 or Type 29 fibre disc configurations rated at or above 12000 RPM. Intended for grinding carbon steel in fabrication and weld finishing applications.
Mounting and disc changes should be performed by a trained operator following the grinder manufacturer's instructions and applicable ANSI B11 or OSHA 1910.215 machine guarding requirements. Always verify the grinder's rated RPM meets or exceeds the disc's 12000 RPM maximum before mounting. Ensure the backing pad is in good condition and free of damage before seating the disc. Do not exceed the rated speed and never grind with the flat face of a disc not designed for that orientation.
