The 3M 7010314431 is a PTFE-impregnated glass cloth tape sold under the 3M 5453 product line in brown. The tape combines a woven glass cloth backing with a PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) coating and a silicone adhesive system. This construction delivers a high-temperature release surface with strong tensile strength, puncture resistance, abrasion resistance, and low moisture absorption. At 8.3 mil total thickness, it is the thicker backing version of the 3M 5451 tape. Maintenance technicians and equipment technicians install it on heat sealing machines and process equipment where a durable, non-stick surface is required.
This tape is used on heat sealing bars, conveying chutes, troughs, and ducts in industrial and manufacturing environments. A common application is lining the sealing bar on impulse or band sealers where a hot wire contacts plastic film. The PTFE surface provides consistent, easy release cycle after cycle. It is also applied to guide surfaces and slide chutes where a low-friction, chemical-resistant lining keeps product moving without buildup or drag. Each roll measures 0.5 inches wide by 36 yards long.
Designed for use on heat sealing machines and process equipment requiring a high-temperature, non-stick release surface, including sealing bars, conveying chutes, troughs, and ducts in industrial and packaging applications.
Installation is typically performed by maintenance technicians or equipment service personnel. Before applying, power down and fully cool any heat sealing equipment or heated surface to prevent burns and ensure proper adhesive bonding. Clean the substrate surface of oils, dust, and residue before application to achieve full adhesive contact. Follow the equipment manufacturer's guidelines and applicable facility safety procedures when working on process machinery.
