The 3M 7010313061 is the Scotch 3311 Aluminum Foil Tape, a dead-soft general purpose tape constructed with an aluminum foil backing and a paper liner. It uses a high-tack, pressure-sensitive rubber adhesive engineered to bond to difficult surfaces including low-energy substrates that standard tapes struggle to grip. At 3.6 mil total thickness, the tape is conformable enough to wrap irregular surfaces while maintaining a durable, moisture-resistant seal. HVAC technicians and insulation contractors reach for this tape when sealing duct insulation, vapor barriers, and thermal jacketing in both residential and light commercial applications.
Scotch 3311 is well suited for HVAC duct sealing, insulation facing repairs, and vapor barrier work where the tape must hold under varying temperature swings and weather exposure. Its thermal conductivity supports heating and cooling efficiency by maintaining the integrity of the insulation system. The tape can be applied in most field weather conditions, making it a practical choice for on-site mechanical room work, rooftop units, and exposed ductwork installations where conditions are rarely ideal.
Designed for general-purpose use on aluminum foil-faced insulation, ductboard, flexible duct, vapor barrier membranes, and similar HVAC and mechanical insulation substrates requiring a conformable, moisture-resistant foil tape.
This tape is installed by insulation contractors and licensed HVAC technicians. Surfaces must be clean and dry before application to achieve full adhesive contact. Apply firm pressure across the entire tape width to activate the pressure-sensitive adhesive, using a seam roller or gloved hand. In cold-weather installs, allow the tape to acclimate to ambient temperature before application to prevent premature release.
