The 3M 7010312673 is a dead soft aluminum foil vibration damping tape designed to absorb and dissipate mechanical vibration energy in demanding industrial and aerospace applications. The aluminum foil constraining layer is coated with a pressure-sensitive viscoelastic acrylic polymer on an easy-release liner. This construction converts vibrational energy into negligible heat that readily dissipates, reducing structure-borne noise and material fatigue. The tape measures 7 inches wide, spans 36 yards per roll, and carries an 8 mil total thickness. It is rated for use at temperatures as low as -76 degrees F, making it suitable for extreme cold environments.
This tape is used in aerospace, industrial, and HVAC applications where vibration control and noise reduction are required. The linered format supports die-cutting to match specific part geometries, which is a common requirement in aerospace assembly workflows. Its resistance to weather and UV degradation extends service life in exposed or difficult environments. Installers in sheet metal, aviation maintenance, and HVAC fabrication shops commonly apply this tape to panels, ducts, and structural components where vibration-induced fatigue is a concern.
Designed for vibration damping and noise reduction applications in aerospace assembly, industrial fabrication, and HVAC duct construction where a pressure-sensitive aluminum foil damping tape is required.
Application is typically performed by sheet metal technicians, aerospace maintenance personnel, or HVAC fabricators. Clean and dry the substrate thoroughly before applying the tape to ensure full adhesive contact. Remove the easy-release liner and apply with firm, even hand pressure, working out air pockets from one edge to the other. When die-cutting to shape, use sharp tooling to avoid tearing the foil layer.
