The 3M 7010310361 is a silicon carbide unitized wheel from the Standard Abrasives 500 Series, designed for light-pressure surface blending, finishing, and polishing. The soft, conformable density construction allows the wheel to conform closely to flat and contoured workpieces, making it well suited for applications where tight tolerances and fine finishes are required. At 6 inches in diameter, it mounts to a unitized wheel mandrel (sold separately) and can be driven in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions. Licensed tradespeople and fabricators working with ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, exotic alloys, titanium, and composites rely on this wheel for consistent, controlled material removal.
This wheel is appropriate for blending, finishing, and polishing operations in metalworking, fabrication, and manufacturing environments. It performs on flat surfaces as well as contoured profiles, making it a practical choice for aerospace, automotive, and general industrial finishing work. The open web construction resists loading, which extends usable service life in production settings. It is sold individually and requires a compatible unitized wheel mandrel for installation.
Designed for use with unitized wheel mandrels compatible with center hole non-woven abrasive wheels. Verify mandrel arbor size and tool RPM rating before installation.
Installation should be performed by qualified personnel following the tool and wheel manufacturer guidelines. Confirm that the tool spindle speed does not exceed the maximum RPM rating marked on the wheel or packaging before mounting. Secure the mandrel according to the tool manufacturer torque specifications and inspect the wheel for damage before each use. Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment including eye protection and hearing protection during grinding and finishing operations.
