The 3M 7010310316 is a unitized abrasive wheel from the Standard Abrasives 700 Series, designed for medium- to heavy-duty deburring, cleaning, and surface conditioning on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built with medium-to-hard density aluminum oxide construction and an open web design, this wheel delivers increased edge durability and load resistance compared to lower-series unitized wheels. At 1 inch in diameter with a 1/8 inch arbor, it attaches via a unitized wheel mandrel and is suited for use with rotary tools and small die grinders. It is installed and serviced by machinists, fabricators, and maintenance trades working with metal components.
This wheel is used in mid-sequence metal finishing operations where harder density and finer abrasive action are needed. Typical applications include removing punched-hole burrs on stainless steel, eliminating heavy flashing, addressing medium-sized pits and scratches, and cleaning heavy scale or weld discoloration. The aluminum oxide mineral works on a broad range of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including aluminum. The wheel runs in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions, providing flexibility across a variety of machine setups and handheld tool configurations.
Designed as a center-hole unitized abrasive wheel compatible with rotary tools and die grinders that accept a 1/8 inch arbor mandrel; consult the mandrel manufacturer for speed and adapter requirements specific to your tool.
Installation of this wheel requires a separately sold unitized wheel mandrel rated for the intended RPM. Always power down and disconnect the tool before mounting or removing the wheel. Verify the tool spindle speed does not exceed the maximum rated speed printed on the wheel or packaging. Eye protection and appropriate PPE should be worn during operation in accordance with ANSI B7.1 and applicable shop safety standards.
