The 3M 7010309495 is a Scotch-Brite EXL Unitized Wheel designed for smoothing, deburring, and surface finishing on metal alloys, plastics, and composites. The wheel uses a silicon carbide abrasive integrated into a soft, conformable unitized construction that keeps the abrasive in consistent contact with the workpiece. This design minimizes heat buildup, which is critical when working with heat-sensitive base materials. The layered unitized structure also resists smearing, leaving cleaner surfaces with less prep work between passes. Machinists, fabricators, and metal finishing technicians install and operate these wheels on bench grinders, right-angle grinders, and automated robotic finishing systems.
This wheel is suited for deburring and finishing edges and surfaces on metal alloys including stainless, aluminum, and ferrous metals, as well as many plastics and composites. Its conformable construction makes it particularly effective in robotic and automated processing where consistent contact with complex or contoured part geometries is required. The wheel can run in either clockwise or counterclockwise rotation, adding flexibility for varied machine setups. The EXL line spans multiple densities and grades, from a very soft 2 density for high conformability to a hard 8 density for aggressive cut and extended durability.
Designed for use on bench grinders, right-angle grinders, and automated finishing equipment where unitized abrasive wheels are specified for deburring, smoothing, and surface finishing of metal alloys, plastics, and composites.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or finishing technician following the equipment manufacturer's mounting instructions. Power down and de-energize the grinder or finishing machine completely before mounting or changing the wheel. Verify that the machine's maximum RPM rating is compatible with the wheel's rated speed before operation. Always use appropriate guarding and personal protective equipment including eye protection when operating abrasive wheels.
