The 3M 7010309417 is an aluminum oxide abrasive belt designed for intermediate finishing and fine polishing on metal surfaces prior to plating or buffing operations. It uses 3M microreplication technology, where micron-graded aluminum oxide particles are formed into precisely shaped three-dimensional pyramids and bonded to an X-weight cloth backing. As the pyramids wear during use, fresh, sharp cutting mineral is continuously exposed, delivering a consistent cut rate and a predictable, fine surface finish. The belt measures 132 inches in length and 4 inches in width. It is used in both manual grinding operations and automated robotic finishing lines.
This belt is suited for metalworking applications requiring tight finish control ahead of plating, buffing, or coating processes. The flexible cloth backing conforms to contoured workpiece surfaces, making it effective on cylindrical parts, tubes, and irregular geometries. The three-dimensional abrasive structure produces finishes that are more consistent throughout belt life compared to conventional electrostatically coated abrasives. It is commonly used by metal fabricators, industrial finishing shops, and automated production lines where repeatable surface preparation is critical.
Designed for use on belt grinders and finishing machines that accept 132-inch by 4-inch abrasive belts, particularly in metal fabrication, pre-plate finishing, and automated robotic polishing systems.
Belt installation should be performed by qualified personnel following machine manufacturer guidelines. Always power down and lock out the belt grinder or finishing machine before changing belts. Verify belt tracking and tension per machine specifications before resuming operation. Inspect the belt for damage or delamination prior to each use and replace if defects are found.
