The 3M 7010309167 is a coated abrasive disc engineered for demanding stock removal and finishing work. It combines 3M ceramic abrasive grain with aluminum oxide in a blended mineral formula that self-sharpens during use, delivering a consistent cut-rate and extended disc life compared to standard aluminum oxide-only products. The 4-inch diameter disc runs on a heavy polyester backing that resists water and supports medium-pressure applications in both wet and dry conditions. A heat-resistant resin bond locks the abrasive to the backing, maintaining performance under sustained pressure and elevated temperatures. Metalworking professionals and fabricators are the primary users of this disc.
This disc is suited for grinding, blending, and finishing on heat-sensitive alloys including stainless steel, nickel alloys, and titanium. The integrated grinding aid reduces grinding temperatures, which protects workpiece integrity on materials prone to heat distortion or surface discoloration. The 80 grit specification positions this disc at a medium-coarse cut, appropriate for aggressive stock removal while still allowing transition to finishing passes. The 3M Roloc attachment system provides quick, secure mounting and removal, reducing changeover time during production or service work.
Designed for use with 3M Roloc compatible backup pads and angle grinders or die grinders equipped with a Roloc-style mandrel. Fits 4-inch Roloc backup pad systems.
Metalworking and fabrication professionals should ensure the backup pad is rated for the disc diameter and operating RPM before mounting. Power down and disconnect the grinder before attaching or removing the disc. Verify the Roloc stud is fully engaged and the disc seats flush against the backup pad before starting the tool. Follow applicable shop safety protocols including eye protection and appropriate respiratory controls when grinding alloys.
