It uses a blend of aluminum oxide and ceramic grain bonded to an X-weight cotton cloth backing. The ceramic grain delivers a fast cut rate with extended belt life compared to standard aluminum oxide products. The X-weight backing resists stretching and tearing under heavy sanding pressure. A grinding aid is incorporated into the bond to reduce heat buildup at the workpiece surface, making this belt well suited for heat-sensitive alloys. Licensed HVAC, metalworking, and fabrication professionals install and use this belt in production and maintenance grinding operations.
The 747D belt is designed for stroke sanding and surface finishing on a range of metals, with particular strength on stainless steel, nickel alloys, and other hard-to-finish substrates. The anti-friction backing coating allows the belt to track and run smoothly on contact wheels and stroke sanders. Typical applications include weld blending, surface prep before inspection, and final finishing passes where consistent scratch pattern and surface quality are required.
