The 3M 7010308879 is a Trizact 217EA coated abrasive belt designed for intermediate finishing and fine polishing on metal surfaces. It uses 3M proprietary microreplication technology in which micron-graded aluminum oxide mineral is formed into uniform pyramidal structures and bonded to a JE-weight rayon cloth backing. As the pyramids wear, fresh, sharp mineral is continuously exposed, delivering a consistent cut rate and a predictable finish throughout the belt's service life. At 132 inches long and 2 inches wide, it fits standard belt finishing machines used in metal fabrication and surface preparation workflows. A built-in grinding aid helps manage heat to reduce the risk of workpiece warping or discoloration.
This belt is suited for light-pressure intermediate finishing and fine polishing applications, particularly prior to plating or buffing operations. The flexible JE-weight rayon backing conforms to contoured and profiled surfaces, making it effective for both flat stock and shaped workpieces in metal fabrication environments. Its consistent cut and long abrasive life also make it a reliable choice for robotic or automated finishing applications where repeatable surface results are required. It produces finer finishes than conventional coated abrasives of comparable grit designations.
Designed for use on standard belt finishing and polishing machines that accept a 132-inch by 2-inch abrasive belt configuration, typically in metal fabrication, aerospace component finishing, and general industrial surface preparation applications.
Belt installation and tensioning should be performed by qualified personnel following the belt machine manufacturer's guidelines. Ensure the machine is fully de-energized and locked out before changing belts. Verify correct belt tracking and tension before resuming operation. Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including eye protection and gloves, when handling and loading abrasive belts.
