The 3M 7010308697 is a coated abrasive belt built around 3M Precision Shaped Grain technology on a heavyweight polyester backing. The precision shaped grain fractures as it wears, continuously exposing sharp cutting edges rather than dulling like conventional abrasive grain. This keeps cut rates high and reduces the frequency of belt changes during production grinding. At 50 grit, this belt is suited for aggressive stock removal on carbon steel, nickel alloys, tool steels, and titanium. A heat-resistant grinding aid extends belt life when working heat-sensitive materials. Industrial fabricators, tool and die shops, and metal finishing operations will find this belt well-matched to high-pressure belt grinding applications.
This belt is intended for use in heavy industrial and manufacturing environments where high-pressure grinding on ferrous and non-ferrous metals is routine. Typical applications include off-hand grinding, weld blending, and surface conditioning on carbon steel, tool steels, high-nickel alloys, and titanium. The heavyweight polyester backing is sized for coarse-grade work where belt flex and tear resistance matter. This is a dry-use belt suited for stationary and portable belt grinders running in fabrication shops, maintenance facilities, and aerospace or tooling operations.
Designed for use on belt grinders and finishing machines that accept a 132 inch by 3 inch abrasive belt. Suitable for grinding carbon steel, tool steels, nickel alloys, and titanium in dry, high-pressure applications.
Belt installation and tensioning should be performed by qualified personnel following the grinder manufacturer's guidelines. Power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing the belt. Confirm belt tracking and tension before resuming operation. Always use appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when handling coated abrasive belts and operating grinding equipment.
