The 3M 7010308483 is a coated abrasive belt built for high-pressure grinding and finishing applications where standard aluminum oxide falls short. It uses an alumina zirconia mineral grain combined with a grinding aid to deliver faster cutting action and longer belt life than conventional aluminum oxide products. The backing is a heavyweight, water-resistant polyester cloth rated for demanding production environments, edge work, and off-hand grinding. At 60 inches long and 6 inches wide with an 80-grit grade, this belt suits wide belt machines and large-surface stock removal tasks. It runs cool under load, making it suitable for heat-sensitive metals including aluminum and stainless steel.
This belt is used in industrial and fabrication settings for surface grinding, weld blending, and edge finishing on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, as well as on composites and other substrates. The 80-grit grade positions it in the medium-coarse range, suited for stock removal and initial surface preparation before progressing to finer grits. Typical installations include wide-belt sanders and large stationary grinders found in metalworking shops, fabrication facilities, and production grinding operations. Installers are typically machinists, welders, or industrial maintenance personnel.
Designed as a direct-fit coated abrasive belt for wide-belt sanders and stationary grinders that accept a 60 inch by 6 inch belt size.
Belt installation should be performed by qualified personnel with the machine fully de-energized and locked out per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Verify belt tracking and tension per the equipment manufacturer specifications before resuming operation. Inspect the belt for tears, folds, or splice damage before mounting. Do not exceed the maximum operating speed rating of the machine or the belt.
