The 3M 7010307740 is a coated abrasive belt designed for high-demand stock removal and metal finishing applications. It combines 3M Ceramic Abrasive Grain with aluminum oxide in a blend that cuts faster and lasts longer than standard aluminum oxide abrasives. The heavyweight polyester cloth backing handles high-pressure machine applications without breaking down. A built-in grinding aid reduces heat buildup during use, making this belt well suited for stainless steel and other heat-sensitive metals. The belt measures 60 inches in length and 8 inches in width, with a 60-grit cut. It can be run dry or with a lubricant depending on the application.
This belt is used in industrial metal fabrication and finishing environments where consistent stock removal and extended belt life are priorities. Typical applications include grinding, blending, and finishing on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including stainless steel. It is commonly used on stationary belt grinders and contact-wheel machines in production shops. The orange color coding helps operators identify grit and grade quickly during belt changes. Licensed tradespeople and machine operators in metal fabrication, welding shops, and manufacturing facilities are the primary users.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement abrasive belt for stationary belt grinders and contact-wheel machines accepting a 60-inch by 8-inch belt in 60-grit aluminum oxide ceramic configurations.
Belt installation and replacement should be performed by qualified machine operators following the equipment manufacturer's guidelines and applicable OSHA abrasive wheel and belt safety standards. Power down and lock out the machine before changing belts. Verify belt tracking and tension according to the grinder manufacturer's specifications before resuming operation. Inspect the belt for tears, edge fraying, or joint separation before each use and remove from service if any defects are found.
