The 3M 7010307732 is a coated abrasive belt designed for demanding stock removal and metal finishing applications. It combines 3M Ceramic Abrasive Grain with aluminum oxide to deliver faster cutting action and longer service life than traditional aluminum oxide belts. The belt measures 168 inches in length and 4 inches in width, making it suited for wide contact-wheel and platen grinding setups. At 80 grit, it handles aggressive material removal while still leaving a workable surface finish. A durable resin bond resists heat breakdown, and a built-in grinding aid manages heat buildup during stainless steel operations. Fabricators, metal finishers, and weld-grinding technicians are the primary users.
This belt is built for high-pressure grinding on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including stainless steel and heat-sensitive alloys. The heavyweight polyester cloth backing holds up under sustained contact pressure and can be run dry or with a liquid lubricant, giving operators flexibility across different finishing processes. It is well-suited for production grinding environments where belt changes slow output — the ceramic grain blend extends intervals between belt swaps and increases the number of parts finished per belt compared to standard aluminum oxide products.
Designed as a direct-fit coated abrasive belt for contact-wheel, platen, and backstand grinding machines that accept a 168-inch by 4-inch belt size.
Belt installation should be performed by a qualified operator with the grinding machine powered off and locked out per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Verify belt tracking and tension before resuming operation. Inspect the belt seam and backing for damage before mounting. When using lubricant, ensure the fluid is compatible with both the workpiece material and the belt backing.
