The 3M 7010305974 is a pre-formed firestop foam block engineered to seal medium to large openings in wall and floor through-penetrations against fire, smoke, and toxic gases. Rated for up to 2 hours of fire resistance and tested to ASTM E 814 and UL 1479, this block provides a reliable passive fire protection solution without requiring special tools or cure time. Weighing 1.233 pounds, it is lightweight enough for single-technician handling. The maroon-colored block is paintable with primer after installation and can be repaired or reused as conditions require, reducing material waste on the job.
This fire barrier block is suited for commercial and residential construction and renovation projects where through-penetration firestopping is required by code. Typical applications include blank openings, metal pipe penetrations, cable and cable tray penetrations, insulated pipes, and combination penetrations in fire-rated wall and floor assemblies. It is designed for use by electricians, plumbers, mechanical contractors, and fire protection installers working in occupied or phased construction environments. The block can be supplemented with 3M Fire Barrier Rated Foam FIP 1-Step or other compatible 3M fire barrier sealants, sold separately, to complete the firestop system.
Designed for use in firestop assemblies involving blank openings, metal pipes, cables, cable trays, insulated pipes, and combination penetrations in fire-rated wall and floor constructions.
Installation is performed by qualified fire protection installers, electricians, or mechanical contractors in accordance with applicable building and fire codes. De-energize all electrical circuits and isolate all affected systems before beginning work in any penetration opening. No special tools are required; follow the published 3M firestop system design for the specific penetration type and opening size. Supplemental sealant application should conform to the tested system requirements.
