The 3M 7010300839 Scotch-Brite Surface Conditioning Film Backed Belt is a non-woven abrasive belt engineered for cleaning, finishing, blending, and deburring metal and other surfaces. It combines a stretch-resistant nylon film backing with aluminum oxide mineral bonded in resin, producing a belt that holds its shape under tension and delivers consistent material removal throughout its service life. As the nylon fibers wear, they break down gradually to expose fresh mineral, maintaining a predictable cut rate from start to finish. Fabricators, metalworkers, and industrial maintenance technicians are the primary installers and users of this belt.
This belt is suited for use on stroke sanders and wide belt finishing machines where reduced friction on the back of the belt is an operational requirement. The film backing performs well when running against platens, providing stable contact across the workpiece. Typical applications include weld blending, surface prep before coating or plating, and light deburring on ferrous and non-ferrous stock. The open fiber structure allows swarf and debris to escape during operation, reducing loading and extending belt life in production finishing environments.
Designed for use on stroke sanders and wide belt finishing machines that accept belts measuring 75 inches in length by 37 inches in width with a film-backed non-woven construction.
Belt installation and tensioning should be performed by qualified machine operators following the sander manufacturer's guidelines. Power down and lock out the machine before changing belts. Verify belt tracking alignment after installation and before resuming production to prevent edge wear or belt damage. Inspect the belt seat and contact platen for debris before mounting a new belt.
