The 3M 7010300822 is a Scotch-Brite Surface Conditioning Belt designed for metalworking applications including blending, deburring, cleaning, contour finishing, and attaining straightline-brushed finishes. Measuring 21 inches long by 3 inches wide, it uses an aluminum oxide abrasive mineral bonded with resin onto a scrim-reinforced nonwoven open web backing. The nonwoven construction reduces heat build-up and loading, extending operating time and delivering consistent surface conditioning results across a range of metals. Licensed tradespeople and industrial operators working with ferrous and non-ferrous metals use this belt for controlled material removal and surface finishing tasks.
This belt is suited to detail finishing work on flat surfaces, contoured parts, corners, and edges. Its conformable nonwoven structure allows the abrasive to maintain consistent contact with complex-shaped workpieces, making it appropriate for both manual and robotic processing environments. Typical applications include removing grind lines, mill marks, and other surface imperfections, as well as setting the grain on stainless steel and achieving fine or straightline-brushed finishes in fabrication shops, manufacturing facilities, and metal service centers.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-use surface conditioning belt for file belt sanders and backstand grinders that accept 3 inch by 21 inch abrasive belts.
A qualified operator or fabricator should install and replace abrasive belts following the machine manufacturer's guidelines and applicable ANSI safety standards for abrasive products. Always power down and lock out the belt sander or grinder before changing belts. Inspect the belt for tears, fraying, or damage before mounting, and confirm the machine is rated for the belt dimensions before operating.
