The 3M 7010300326 is a coated abrasive belt built around 3M Precision-Shaped Grain technology on a YF-weight polyester cloth backing. The 984F designation identifies this as a heavy-duty ceramic grain belt engineered for medium to high pressure grinding on stainless steel, cobalt chrome, nickel alloys, and carbon steel. At 132 inches long and 3 inches wide with a 120 grit rating, it is sized for wide-contact belt grinders used in fabrication, weld blending, and finishing operations. Precision-Shaped Grain continuously fractures to expose sharp cutting points, maintaining cut rate across the belt life. A built-in grinding aid runs cooler than conventional abrasives, reducing heat-related discoloration and stress cracking on temperature-sensitive alloys.
This belt is suited for industrial fabrication shops, aerospace component finishing, and medical device manufacturing where exotic alloys and tight surface quality requirements are common. It performs in both robotic and pressure-assisted grinding cells, as well as manual wide-belt machines. The extended belt life reduces changeout frequency, lowering downtime in high-production environments where throughput per belt directly affects cycle costs. It is particularly effective in applications where stainless steel and cobalt chrome surface integrity must be maintained.
Designed for use on stainless steel, cobalt chrome, nickel alloys, and carbon steel in medium to high pressure belt grinding applications including robotic and pressure-assisted systems.
Installation is performed by qualified machine operators or maintenance personnel. Confirm belt direction arrow aligns with the rotation direction of the contact wheel before mounting. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing belts in accordance with applicable machine guarding and OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Inspect the contact wheel and platen for wear or damage before installing a new belt.
