The 3M 7010300229 is a double-sided, pressure-sensitive, closed-cell acrylic foam tape designed for industrial and construction bonding applications. At 25 mil thick, the tape conforms to irregular surfaces and bonds high and medium surface energy substrates without mechanical fasteners. The black foam core provides cushioning, vibration damping, and impact resistance in addition to a strong adhesive bond. A PE film liner protects the adhesive until installation. Each roll measures 0.5 inches wide by 72 yards long and weighs 1.3 pounds. The product carries a UL listing under 746C, confirming suitability for recognized component applications. HVAC sheet metal fabricators, glaziers, sign installers, and general contractors are the primary installers.
This tape is used where a conformable, high-strength bond is needed on surfaces such as painted metal, glass, plastics, and composites in residential and commercial construction and manufacturing environments. The closed-cell acrylic foam construction resists plasticizer migration, making it appropriate for bonding flexible PVC trim, gaskets, and similar materials. The small-pack format is suited for jobsite use and low-volume assembly work where a full case quantity is not required.
Designed for bonding high and medium surface energy substrates including painted metal, glass, and plastics in general industrial and construction assembly applications.
Surface preparation is critical — clean and dry all bonding surfaces before applying tape to ensure full adhesive contact. Apply firm, even pressure across the tape width after placement to activate the pressure-sensitive adhesive. Allow adequate dwell time before loading the joint, as bond strength increases over the first 24 to 72 hours after application. A licensed tradesperson or qualified installer should confirm that tape bonding meets local building code requirements for the intended structural or mechanical application.
