The 3M 7010300201 is a 5 mil double coated tape built on a 1.0 mil clear polyester (PET) carrier film with a high performance acrylic adhesive on both sides. It is designed for bonding to low surface energy (LSE) substrates, powder coated surfaces, and difficult-to-bond plastics where standard tapes fall short. The tape measures 4 inches wide and 36 yards long per roll and is supplied on a 58, 4.5 mil unprinted polycoated kraft paper liner. Short-term heat resistance reaches 350 degrees F, making it suitable for assemblies that see elevated operating temperatures. Fabricators, sign makers, and industrial assemblers are the primary users of this product.
This tape is used in industrial and commercial fabrication environments where reliable adhesion to challenging substrates is required. Typical applications include bonding nameplates, mounting trim components, laminating films, and die-cut part assembly. The clear PET carrier film provides dimensional stability during processing and supports clean, precise die cutting with hard tooling. The unprinted kraft liner is engineered to minimize edge burr when used in hard tool die cutting operations, making it a practical choice for high-volume fabrication runs.
Designed for bonding to low surface energy plastics, powder coated metals, and other difficult surfaces common in industrial fabrication and assembly applications.
Surface preparation is critical for maximum adhesion — clean all bonding surfaces thoroughly and allow them to dry completely before application. Apply firm pressure across the full tape surface to ensure full contact with the substrate. When die cutting, use the liner side against hard tooling to take advantage of the burr-reduction properties of the polycoated kraft liner. Store unused rolls in a cool, dry environment away from direct heat sources to preserve adhesive performance.
