The 3M 7010300164 is an aluminum oxide abrasive cloth belt engineered for metalworking finishing, deburring, light grinding, and grain-setting operations. Built on a flexible J-weight cloth backing, the belt conforms to contours and complex part geometries without losing contact pressure. At P220 grit and 118 inches long by 3 inches wide, it is sized for backstand grinders, file belt tools, and benchtop motor setups. Open coat construction keeps the abrasive surface clear of sanding dust, supporting a more aggressive cut and extended belt life across a full shift.
This belt is intended for dry metalworking applications on carbon steel, stainless steel, and soft metals including aluminum, brass, bronze, and copper. It is well-suited for finishing, blending contours, deburring edges, and setting the grain on fabricated parts. Licensed metalworkers and shop technicians working on both production runs and one-off fabrication will find the open coat layout and flexible backing particularly effective when contouring irregular or compound surfaces. Resin bonding locks the aluminum oxide mineral securely to the backing for consistent cut rate throughout the belt's service life.
Designed for use on backstand grinders, file belt tools, and benchtop motors that accept a 118-inch by 3-inch abrasive belt. Appropriate for dry metalworking operations on carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, bronze, and copper.
Belt installation and replacement should be performed by qualified shop personnel with the machine fully de-energized and locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Verify belt tracking and tension against the equipment manufacturer's specifications before running. Inspect the belt for tears, fraying, or splice damage before each use and remove from service immediately if defects are found. Always operate within the maximum surface speed rating of the machine and the belt.
