The 3M 7010299920 is a Cubitron II Roloc Fibre Disc in the 987C series, designed for heavy-duty metalworking tasks including weld grinding, beveling, and flame-cut edge clean-up. At 2 inches in diameter and 36 grit, it uses 3M Precision-Shaped Grain technology bonded to a stiff fiber backing. The shaped ceramic grain maintains sharp cutting points that remove material quickly with less applied pressure. A built-in grinding aid helps manage heat buildup, making this disc well suited for heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys, and titanium. Licensed trade professionals and fabricators use it wherever controlled, fast stock removal is required.
This disc is intended for use on angle grinders and die grinders equipped with a Roloc-compatible backup pad. Typical applications include structural weld grinding, pipe beveling, and flame-cut edge preparation in fabrication shops, field ironwork, and industrial maintenance environments. The 36-grit designation places it firmly in the aggressive stock-removal range, making it appropriate for initial passes on heavy weld beads before transitioning to finer finishing steps.
Designed for use with Roloc-compatible backup pads on standard angle grinders and die grinders rated for abrasive disc use in metalworking applications.
Mounting and removal of Roloc-style discs should be performed with the grinder fully powered off and isolated from its power source. Verify the backup pad is rated for the disc diameter and the tool RPM before mounting. Operators should wear appropriate PPE including face shield, gloves, and hearing protection in compliance with applicable ANSI and OSHA abrasive wheel safety standards. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and never exceed the maximum operating speed marked on the disc or backup pad.
