The 3M 7010299282 is a Scotch-Brite EXL Unitized Abrasive Wheel designed for smoothing, deburring, and surface finishing on metal alloys, plastics, and composites. The wheel uses an aluminum oxide (AO) abrasive mineral bonded into a soft, conformable, layered unitized construction. At 2 inches in diameter with a 0.188-inch arbor, it mounts to bench grinders, die grinders, and automated finishing equipment. The unitized build maintains consistent cut rate throughout the wheel's life as the abrasive layers wear away progressively, which helps keep surface finish results predictable across a production run. Fabricators, tool and die shops, and precision machine shops use this wheel for edge prep and finishing work.
This wheel is suited for deburring, blending, and finish work on metal parts including ferrous and non-ferrous alloys, as well as many plastics and composites. Its conformable construction makes it effective in robotic and automated processing applications where the abrasive needs to maintain contact with complex or contoured part geometries. The wheel can run in clockwise or counterclockwise rotation, adding flexibility in multi-spindle setups. It is sold individually.
Designed as a unitized abrasive wheel replacement or addition for bench grinders, die grinders, and automated finishing equipment accepting a 0.188-inch arbor and 2-inch diameter wheel.
Installation is typically performed by a machinist, fabricator, or toolroom technician. Power down and de-energize the grinder or finishing equipment completely before mounting or changing the wheel. Verify that the spindle arbor size matches the 0.188-inch bore before seating the wheel, and confirm the equipment RPM rating does not exceed the wheel's rated maximum speed. Follow applicable ANSI B11 and OSHA abrasive wheel safety guidelines when dressing or truing the wheel edge.
