The 3M 7010299165 is a Trizact 237AA coated abrasive belt designed for intermediate finishing and fine polishing applications on metal and other industrial surfaces. It uses 3M microreplication technology in which micron-graded aluminum oxide mineral is formed into structured pyramids and bonded to an X-weight cloth backing. As the pyramids wear down during use, fresh, sharp abrasive is continuously exposed, delivering a consistent cut rate and a predictable fine finish throughout the life of the belt. The gray, 90-inch by 6-inch format suits wide-belt grinding and finishing machines used in industrial fabrication environments.
This belt is used in intermediate finishing and fine polishing operations ahead of plating, buffing, or other surface treatment processes. The flexible cloth backing conforms to contoured workpiece surfaces, producing even finishes without skip marks or chatter. The three-dimensional pyramid structure makes it particularly well suited for robotic and automated belt-finishing systems where consistent, repeatable surface finish is critical across high production volumes. Metal fabricators, aerospace component finishers, and precision parts manufacturers are the primary users of this product.
Designed for use on wide-belt grinding and finishing machines that accept a 90-inch by 6-inch belt format. Suited for intermediate finishing and fine polishing of metal parts prior to plating or buffing.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machine operator following the equipment manufacturer's belt-tensioning and tracking procedures. Power down and lock out the machine before changing belts. Inspect the contact wheel, platen, and belt guides for wear before mounting a new belt. Run the belt at the speed specified by both the machine manufacturer and the abrasive belt rating to avoid belt failure or workpiece damage.
