The 3M 7010299098 is a coated abrasive cloth belt designed for high-pressure grinding and finishing applications on ferrous and heat-sensitive metals. Built on a heavyweight polyester backing, this belt carries 3M Precision Shaped Grain that fractures at controlled angles to maintain sharp cutting edges throughout the belt's life. The result is consistent stock removal, reduced heat buildup, and longer belt life compared to conventional abrasive belts. At 36 grit, it is rated for aggressive rough grinding where fast cut rate and durability are the primary requirements. Licensed trade fabricators and grinding shop technicians are the primary installers and users of this consumable.
This belt is suited for dry off-hand grinding and high-pressure belt grinder applications on carbon steel, tool steels, nickel alloys, and titanium. The heat-resistant grinding aid built into the abrasive layer is specifically beneficial when working on titanium and other heat-sensitive high-nickel alloys where thermal damage to the workpiece is a real concern. It is intended for industrial and trade environments where throughput per belt directly affects labor cost and productivity.
Designed for use on belt grinders and contact-wheel machines that accept 2 inch by 72 inch abrasive belts. Suitable for grinding carbon steel, tool steels, nickel alloys, and titanium in industrial fabrication and tool-room environments.
Abrasive belts should be installed by qualified operators following the belt grinder manufacturer's guidelines for tracking, tension, and contact-wheel selection. Always power down and lock out the machine before changing belts. Inspect the belt for cracks, tears, or joint separation before mounting. Follow applicable ANSI and OSHA abrasive product safety standards for personal protective equipment and guarding requirements during operation.
