The 3M 7010299087 is a straight cartridge roll designed for precision deburring, blending, and surface finishing in tight or contoured areas. Built with aluminum oxide abrasive bonded to a cloth backing, it delivers consistent stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The 120 grit fine grade makes it well suited for finishing passes where surface smoothness matters more than aggressive material removal. Rated to a maximum of 24,000 RPM, this cartridge roll operates safely at the speeds typical of pneumatic die grinders and rotary tools used in fabrication and maintenance environments.
This cartridge roll is used by machinists, tool and die technicians, welders, and metalworkers for finishing inside bores, slots, and weld joints. Its straight profile allows access to cylindrical surfaces and blind holes where flat abrasives cannot reach. Common applications include weld bead blending, edge chamfering, and bore prep in both production shop and field maintenance settings. The cloth backing provides flexibility and durability under repeated load cycles.
Designed as a standard straight cartridge roll for use with mandrel-style holders on pneumatic die grinders and rotary tools that accept 5/16 inch diameter cartridge rolls.
Cartridge rolls are installed by a machinist or metalworker onto a compatible tapered or threaded mandrel mounted in a die grinder or rotary tool. Confirm the mandrel diameter matches the 5/16 inch bore of the roll before use. Always verify the tool RPM does not exceed the 24,000 RPM maximum rating before operating. Wear appropriate eye and face protection, and inspect the roll for damage before each use.
