The 3M 7010299044 is a coated abrasive belt designed for aggressive material removal in demanding grinding and finishing applications. Built on the 577F series platform, it uses zirconia alumina abrasive grain with a closed-coat density on a polyester cloth backing rated YF weight. At 36 grit, this belt falls in the very coarse grade range, making it well suited for rapid stock removal on metal, weld seams, and other hard surfaces. The closed-coat construction resists loading and helps maintain consistent cut rate throughout the belt life. At 0.86 pounds per belt, it is lightweight enough for extended handheld tool use while remaining durable in fixed-machine configurations.
This belt measures 2 inches wide by 132 inches long, a common size used on portable belt grinders, pipe grinders, and certain bench-top grinder setups. It is rated for both wet and dry operation, giving metalworkers and fabricators flexibility in their finishing process. Applications include weld blending, deburring, and surface preparation on structural steel, stainless steel, and similar hard metals. It is primarily installed and used by metal fabricators, pipefitters, ironworkers, and industrial maintenance technicians working in shop or field environments.
Designed as a replacement or restocking belt for portable and stationary belt grinders accepting a 2-inch by 132-inch belt. Verify your machine's belt size specification before ordering.
Belt installation should be performed with the grinder or belt machine powered off and unplugged. Confirm belt tracking direction arrow (if present) aligns with the machine's drive direction before seating the belt on the platens. Inspect contact wheels and platens for wear or debris before mounting. Personal protective equipment including eye protection and gloves is standard practice when handling and operating abrasive belts.
