The 3M 7010299042 is an alumina zirconia coated abrasive belt built for demanding metal-finishing and grinding applications. Measuring 132 inches long by 3 inches wide and rated at 50 grit, it delivers aggressive stock removal on stainless steel, aluminum, carbon steel, and other metal substrates. The alumina zirconia mineral works with a grinding aid to generate more cutting power than standard aluminum oxide abrasives while running cooler, which reduces heat buildup on heat-sensitive workpieces. A heavyweight, water-resistant polyester cloth backing supports high-pressure belt grinding and edge-work operations without fraying or delaminating under load. Fabricators, weld grinders, and metalworking shops are the primary users.
This belt is suited for high-production floor-standing and pedestal belt grinders, wide-belt sanders, and pipe or tube finishing machines where a long 132-inch belt path is required. The 50-grit grade makes it appropriate for initial weld blending, heavy stock removal, and surface conditioning before moving to finer grit stages. The polyester backing holds up under both wet and dry grinding conditions, making it a reliable choice in shops that use coolant or water during the grinding process.
Designed for use on industrial belt grinders and wide-belt finishing machines that accept a 132-inch by 3-inch abrasive belt. Suitable for grinding and finishing stainless steel, aluminum, carbon steel, and similar metal substrates.
Installation should be performed by a qualified metalworking technician or machine operator following the grinder manufacturer's belt-tracking and tensioning procedures. Power down and lockout the machine before changing the belt. Inspect the contact wheel, idler, and platen for wear or damage before mounting a new belt. Confirm belt travel direction matches the arrow marked on the belt backing before starting the machine.
