The 3M 7010298890 is a Trizact 217EA coated abrasive belt engineered for intermediate finishing and fine polishing operations. It uses 3M microreplicated pyramid technology, in which micron-graded aluminum oxide mineral is formed into uniform pyramidal structures and bonded to a JE-weight rayon cloth backing. As the pyramid tips wear during use, fresh, sharp mineral is continuously exposed, delivering a consistent cut rate and a predictable fine finish from start to finish. The belt measures 24 inches in length and 3 inches in width. Metalworking shops, fabricators, and finishing technicians rely on this belt for controlled, repeatable surface conditioning ahead of plating or buffing operations.
This belt is suited for intermediate and fine finishing stages on metal workpieces where surface consistency is critical before plating, buffing, or coating. The flexible JE-weight rayon backing conforms to contoured and irregular surfaces, making it well suited for both flat-stock and profile finishing. Its consistent cut behavior and long abrasive life also make it a practical choice for robotic and automated belt grinding applications where predictable performance across a full belt life is required. It is designed for light-pressure applications, allowing the abrasive structure to break down at a controlled rate to maintain cut and finish consistency.
Designed for use on standard belt finishing machines accepting a 24-inch by 3-inch abrasive belt. Intended for metalworking applications including finishing prior to electroplating, buffing, or protective coating.
Install and replace abrasive belts with the belt grinder or finishing machine fully powered off and locked out per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Verify belt tracking and tension before resuming operation. Inspect the belt for tears or separation at the splice before each use and replace if damage is present.
