The 3M 7010295226 is a Trizact 217EA coated abrasive belt designed for intermediate finishing and fine polishing applications. It uses 3M microreplicated pyramid technology, in which micron-graded aluminum oxide abrasive mineral is formed into uniform three-dimensional pyramids and bonded to a JE-weight rayon cloth backing. As the pyramids wear during use, fresh, sharp mineral is continuously exposed, delivering a consistent cut rate and predictable finish quality throughout the belt's service life. The belt measures 118 inches in length and 2 inches in width. A grinding aid is incorporated into the construction to reduce heat buildup, which helps prevent workpiece warping and discoloration during finishing.
This belt is suited for metalworking applications including intermediate stock removal, fine finishing, and pre-plate or pre-buff polishing on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The flexible JE-weight rayon backing conforms to contoured and irregular surfaces, making it well-suited for manual and robotic finishing lines where repeatability is required. It is intended for light-pressure operating conditions that allow the abrasive structure to break down progressively and maintain a controlled, consistent cut. Fabricators, metalfinishers, and surface prep technicians working in production or job-shop environments are the typical end users.
Designed for use on belt finishing machines accepting 118-inch by 2-inch abrasive belts. Suitable for ferrous and non-ferrous metal finishing, including applications prior to plating or buffing operations.
Installation and belt changes should be performed by trained metalfinishing technicians or machine operators following the equipment manufacturer's guidelines. Power down and lock out the belt finishing machine before changing belts. Inspect the contact wheel, platen, and tracking guides for wear or debris before mounting a new belt. Ensure the belt is oriented correctly per any directional arrows and that tracking is adjusted before resuming operation.
