The 3M 7010295220 Trizact 217EA is a coated abrasive belt engineered for intermediate finishing and fine polishing applications. It uses 3M proprietary microreplication technology in which micron-graded aluminum oxide particles are formed into precise pyramidal structures and bonded to a JE-weight rayon cloth backing. As the pyramids wear, fresh abrasive mineral is continuously exposed, delivering a consistent cut rate and predictable finish quality throughout the belt's service life. A built-in grinding aid reduces heat buildup, which helps prevent workpiece warping and discoloration. The belt is well suited for finishing lines, robotic grinding cells, and manual polishing operations in metal fabrication and finishing shops.
The 217EA belt is designed for intermediate finishing and fine polishing steps performed prior to plating or buffing. Its flexible JE-weight rayon backing conforms to contoured and irregular surfaces, making it effective for both flat stock and shaped components. The consistent mineral exposure characteristic of microreplicated abrasives makes this belt particularly reliable in automated and robotic finishing applications where repeatable results are critical. It is appropriate for light-pressure passes where controlled abrasive breakdown is needed to maintain cut consistency and produce fine surface finishes.
Designed for use on belt grinding and finishing machines accepting a 132-inch by 2.5-inch abrasive belt. Suitable for metal fabrication, finishing, and polishing applications requiring fine surface preparation prior to plating or buffing.
Belt installation should be performed by a qualified operator following the machine manufacturer's guidelines for belt tensioning and tracking. Power down and lock out the grinding or finishing machine before mounting or removing the belt. Verify belt direction of travel matches the arrow marked on the backing before operation. Inspect the belt for tears or edge damage prior to each use and replace if defects are found.
