The 3M 7010295208 is a Trizact 217EA coated abrasive belt designed for intermediate finishing and fine polishing on metal surfaces prior to plating or buffing operations. It uses microreplicated technology in which micron-graded aluminum oxide particles are formed into precise pyramidal structures and bonded to a JE-weight rayon cloth backing. As the pyramids wear during use, fresh, sharp mineral is continuously exposed, delivering a consistent cut rate and repeatable surface finish throughout the full life of the belt. A built-in grinding aid helps minimize heat buildup, reducing the risk of warping or discoloration on heat-sensitive workpieces. The belt measures 118 inches in length and 2 inches in width and weighs 0.19 pounds.
This belt is suited for use on stationary and robotic belt grinding and finishing machines in industrial and fabrication environments. It performs well on ferrous and non-ferrous metals where a fine, consistent surface finish is required before downstream processes such as electroplating, buffing, or coating. Light-pressure applications are where this belt excels, allowing the abrasive pyramids to break down progressively and maintain a stable cut. The rayon cloth backing provides flexibility to conform to contoured and irregular workpiece profiles, making it appropriate for both flat and shaped part finishing.
Designed for use on standard belt grinding and finishing machines that accept a 118-inch by 2-inch abrasive belt configuration, particularly in industrial metal finishing and fabrication applications.
Belt installation and replacement should be performed by qualified personnel following the machine manufacturer's guidelines. Power down and lock out the belt grinder before changing any abrasive components. Inspect the contact wheel, platen, and tracking mechanism before mounting the new belt. Verify belt tracking at low speed before returning the machine to full operation.
