The 3M 7010294917 Scotch-Brite Surface Conditioning Belt is a nonwoven abrasive belt designed for detail finishing work on a variety of metal surfaces. Built with an aluminum oxide abrasive grain bonded in a resin system and supported by a scrim-reinforced nonwoven open web, this belt delivers consistent surface conditioning results across multiple applications. It measures 18 inches in length and 1/2 inch in width, making it suited for narrow belt grinders and detail finishing machines. Metalworkers, fabricators, and finishing technicians use this belt where precision surface results are required without aggressive stock removal.
This belt is used in industrial and shop environments for tasks including blending, deburring edges, cleaning, contour finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, and achieving straightline-brushed or stainless steel finishes. The open web construction resists loading and reduces heat buildup, which extends belt life and keeps surface results consistent through longer run times. Its conformability makes it well suited for robotic processing applications where the abrasive must stay in contact with complex or irregular part geometries.
Designed for use on narrow belt finishing machines and detail grinders accepting 18 inch by 1/2 inch abrasive belts. Suitable for use on stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, and other common metal substrates.
Installation should be performed by qualified machine operators or finishing technicians familiar with abrasive belt equipment. Power down and de-energize the machine completely before changing belts. Verify belt tracking and tensioning per the machine manufacturer's guidelines before resuming operation. Follow applicable shop safety practices including eye protection and guarding requirements when operating abrasive belt equipment.
