The 3M 7010294899 is a Scotch-Brite surface conditioning belt designed for precision detail work on metal surfaces. Built with a nonwoven open web construction and silicon carbide abrasive bonded with resin, this belt measures 18 inches in length and 1/4 inch in width. It is engineered to handle blending, deburring, contour finishing, flat finishing, and straightline-brushed finishes on a range of metals including stainless steel. The open web structure reduces loading and heat build-up, allowing for longer operating runs and consistent surface conditioning results. HVAC sheet metal fabricators, plumbers, pipefitters, and metal finishing technicians are the primary installers and users.
This belt is suited for both robotic processing and hand-tool applications where conformability to complex shapes is required. Typical applications include blending weld seams, cleaning oxide from pipe edges, deburring cut edges, setting grain on stainless steel panels, and removing grind lines or mill marks. The narrow 1/4-inch width makes it particularly effective for reaching tight corners, slots, and contoured profiles that wider belts cannot access. It is sold individually (each) with a minimum order quantity of 20 units.
Designed as a replacement or replenishment belt for file belt sanders and narrow-contact-wheel grinders that accept 18-inch by 1/4-inch belts in surface conditioning applications on metal substrates.
Install on a compatible file belt sander or narrow belt grinder rated for the belt dimensions. Ensure the machine is powered off and unplugged before changing belts. Verify belt tracking and tension per the tool manufacturer guidelines before operating. Use appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when performing surface conditioning operations.
