The 3M 7010294755 Scotch-Brite Surface Conditioning Film Backed Belt is a non-woven abrasive belt designed for cleaning, finishing, blending, and deburring operations across a range of metalworking and fabrication applications. The belt uses a smooth, tough, stretch-resistant nylon film backing that performs well against platens and in low-friction stroke sander setups. Aluminum oxide mineral bonded with resin forms the abrasive layer. As fibers wear, they break down gradually to expose fresh mineral, maintaining consistent cutting action throughout the belt's service life. At 96 inches long and 8 inches wide, this belt suits wide-format and heavy-duty belt sanding equipment.
This belt is well suited for metal fabrication shops, maintenance operations, and surface prep work on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. It handles tasks including scale removal, weld blending, light deburring, and surface conditioning before coating or finishing. The open nylon fiber construction allows swarf and debris to escape the cut zone, reducing loading and extending usable belt life. It fits stroke sanders and flat platen machines where low back-friction is an operational requirement.
Designed for use on stroke sanders, flat platen belt grinders, and wide-format belt finishing machines that accept 96-inch by 8-inch non-woven abrasive belts.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machine operator or maintenance technician familiar with abrasive belt equipment. Power down and lock out the machine before changing belts. Confirm belt tracking adjustment and tension settings before resuming operation. Inspect the belt for tears or edge damage prior to use, and never operate a damaged belt.
