The 3M 7010294693 is a coated abrasive belt from the Cubitron II 966F line, engineered for aggressive material removal and surface finishing on demanding metal substrates. Built with 3M precision shaped ceramic grain bonded to a water-resistant Y-weight polyester cloth backing, this belt delivers fast cut rates and long service life. At 132 inches long and 4 inches wide with a 50-grit abrasive, it is suited for heavy stock removal and intermediate finishing passes on stainless steel, titanium, and high-nickel alloys without discoloring the workpiece surface.
This belt is used in metal fabrication and finishing shops handling stainless steel, titanium, and other high-nickel alloy components. It performs in both wet and dry applications, making it compatible with liquid lubricant use where heat and surface discoloration are concerns. Typical applications include weld blending, deburring, and surface conditioning on flat or contoured metal parts. The combination of ceramic grain and resin bond resists heat buildup during aggressive sanding cycles.
Designed for use on stainless steel, titanium, and high-nickel alloys; fits belt grinders and finishing machines that accept 132-inch by 4-inch abrasive belts.
Installation should be performed by a qualified metalworker or abrasives technician familiar with belt grinder operation. Power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing the belt. Verify belt tracking and tension per the machine manufacturer's guidelines before resuming operation. Follow applicable shop safety codes and wear appropriate PPE, including eye protection and gloves, during installation and use.
